MTV Movie Awards

10 March 2014

Following the Oscars ceremony last week, the MTV Movie Awards will see an immense battle between five films all wanting to snatch the title of ‘Movie of the Year’.

The fan-voted awards will also see golden girl Jennifer Lawrence up for two gongs, best kiss and best female performance as she missed out on the Oscars’ best supporting actress, with 12 Years a Slave star Lupita Nyong’o taking the coveted award home instead.

The annual MTV Movie Awards however does bring hope for Leonardo DiCaprio, who will hopefully pick up an award for best male actor after yet again missing out on an Oscar. His performance in The Wolf of Wall Street goes head to head with teen favourite Josh Hutcherson who plays Peeta Mellark, the ‘star-crossed’ lover of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Oscars’ best picture winner 12 Years a Slave has four nominations, while film rival Gravity only managed to earn one, Sandra Bullock up for best female performance against the likes of Jennifer Anniston and Amy Adams.

The MTV Movie awards take place on April 13th hosted by comedian and chat show host Conan O’Brien at the Nokia Theatre, Los Angeles.
