Everybody is well aware that Newcastle is the greatest place on earth (as confirmed by local radio station Metro Radio) and naturally, there is a lot to get up to in the city. We chose our favourite places in Newcastle that we would definitely recommend to anybody.

Las Iguanas – This tapas bar has a whole host of amazing cocktails and authentic Spanish food, complete with a great vibe and reasonable prices. For more on Las Iguanas http://www.iguanas.co.uk/locations/newcastle

Kaspas – A cafe that only sells desserts. Need I go on? http://kaspas.co.uk/locations/newcastle/

Mog on the Tyne – Newcastle’s very own cat cafe, where cats are free to roam as you enjoy a cup of tea and a nice pastry. http://www.mogonthetyne.com

The Discovery Museum is perfect for those hoping to learn more about engineering, history and science. The first thing you see when you walk through the doors is The Turbinia, one of England’s battle ships. https://discoverymuseum.org.uk

Lezzet Turkish Restaurant – For lovers of Eastern European food, Lezzet has a lot to offer. With a chilled and cosy atmosphere, dining out is something special here. http://www.lezzetrestaurant.co.uk

Centre for Life – Whether you’re a little kid or a fully grown adult, everyone can enjoy something at the science centre. If you’re local during Christmas, try their open-air ice rink.http://www.life.org.uk

The Quayside – Situated on the River Tyne and packed with trendy clubs and bars, the Quayside is without a doubt the coolest place in Newcastle and with its weekly market, it caters for all.

Tyneside Cinema – Forget the Odeon and its mainstream films, go to the Tyneside to see the more unusual films. They screen a range of foreign films too, and their prices won’t put you out of pocket. https://www.tynesidecinema.co.uk

Uno’s Trattoria – In our opinion, the best Italian restaurant in the North East. Look for the red Vespa on the curb outside. http://unotrattoria.co.uk

The Sage – For those of us who are musically gifted, the Sage is always hosting great music events and classes. http://www.sagegateshead.com
