Christmas Commercials

25 November 2013

If it says its Christmas on TV then it must be Christmas, as it would appear the time has come for the Christmas Adverts to be everywhere. There’s no escaping them, it’s like the plague. Here is a run down of the five adverts that have made an impression on us, or maybe not.

John Lewis

Lily Allen must be one happy lady this week as she climbed to number one with her Keane cover of “Somewhere Only We Know” after her record was placed on the John Lewis Christmas advert this year. Yet the advert basically screams out that they sell alarm clocks… and bears.

Cadburys

We are all chocolate lovers! So no wonder our mouths are watering when the Cadburys advert comes on our screens because we really can imagine ourselves unwrapping buildings, cars and huge snowmen to see where the chocolate is hidden!

TK Maxx

The T.K.Maxx advert initially shows people unwrapping something we can’t see, then they look shocked then, they look very overwhelmed and don’t really know what to do with themselves. Christmasy? We don’t think so…

Sainsburys

The Sainsbury’s Homecoming advert really grabs at our heart strings with a wife and three kids sending a Christmas video message to their dad who is serving in the army but what they don’t realize is that he’s really in the house and there’s no escaping their happiness in the advert while tears are brought to our eyes.

Marks and Spencer

M&S have gone all out this year by hiring beautiful model Rosie Huntington- Whiteley, David Gandy and Helena Bonham Carter for their Christmas commercial. The advert in a nutshell is Rosie falls down a man hole into a mash up of movie classics including Alice in Wonderland, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Aladdin and The Wizard of Oz, dominated of course by endless M&S goods.
