DC’s cinematic universe hangs in the balance currently, with three movies scheduled, but in various stages. Flashpoint being one of them.

The standalone Flash movie, which will focus on the Flashpoint comic books, has already lost two directors, but has reportedly found replacements. The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, that John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are in talks to direct Flashpoint.  They wrote 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as the comedy hit Horrible Bosses.

In November of last year, Flashpoint was very close to being greenlit. It had a few development troubles over the years since its first announcement in 2015, with Seth Grahame-Smith hired to direct. He left the production however, in May 2016, citing creative differences.

Everything is different in this timeline. Batman is actually Bruce Wayne’s father and his mother is the Joker.

His replacement Rick Famuyiwa also left a few months later for the same reason. An entire rewrite was done and Ben Affleck was even offered to direct.

The title Flashpoint was confirmed at SDCC, in July 2017. This being pulled from the comics, where the Flash finds himself in a very different universe to his own.

DC’s movie slate also consists of the recently announced Shazam film, which will arrive in 2019 and this year’s Aquaman and Wonder Woman 2 which also arrives in 2019.
