More cold winds and deep snow are forecast across the UK this week, as weather blows in from Russia. Weather warnings have been put in place until the end of the week.

The chilling wind will mean that it will very likely feel like -10C to -15C. Yellow and amber warnings have been issued in place for Monday and Tuesday, covering much of the UK, including the Midlands, Scotland and Wales.

Wednesday and Thursday’s warnings will also cover the same areas, including Northern Ireland.

It is predicted to snow up to 20cm by Wednesday night across eastern England and Northern Ireland, forecasters have said. Scotland is expected to have anywhere between 5cm and 10cm of snow by the middle of the week.

Roads and transport should expect severe disruption, with BBC Weather warning of hazardous conditions in southern England later in the week.

Greater Anglia trains will stop completely by 10 pm GMT on Monday, with services being reduced through Tuesday to Thursday. Transport for London is advising commuters to check any changes to journeys and allow extra time if there has been.

Parts of the UK are set to be as cold as northern Norway or Iceland.

The Local Government Agency has said councils are well prepared, with 1.5 million tonnes of salt stockpiled to help keep roads clear. Council teams will also be visiting elderly and vulnerable people, to deliver things like hot meals and to make any emergency repairs where necessary.

Heed the weather warnings and wrap up warm.

You wouldn’t think it was Spring soon would you?
