With the newest iPhone being unveiled people are already asking whether to get it or not. Well, I’m here to say no. You really shouldn’t spend a grand on a phone that has fewer features than its predecessor. So, here are four other phones that do everything the iPhone can do, without having to take out a small loan every month to pay the phone bill.

Huawei P9 Lite – Self-toot here because I love this phone. Sleek, slim, lightweight and fast, this little beauty is a joy to have. With self-cleaning storage, your phone stays fast and optimised always. It even reminds you to clean your cache. 1080p screen, and bigger than most other iPhones (and a lot cheaper) it’s available from most mobile phone providers. Plus, the battery life on this thing is great.

Samsung Galaxy S8 – Apple’s direct competitor, this phone is leaps and bounds ahead in terms of tech and design. Samsung’s ‘all screen’ phones look cool, and far more stylistic than the iPhone X. The iPhone has followed the same design for years now, choosing to deduct features instead of adding them. Plus, the screen is plastic, meaning you can (but shouldn’t) drop it without total fear that your phone is now ruined.

Google Pixel – While it might be the pricier of the phones on display here, it certainly packs more of a punch. Google’s first phone boasts one of the best phones on the market, with heaps of power under the hood making it perfect for those into mobile games, watching things on the go and has a bright and vibrant screen.

LG G6 – LG has had a bit of trouble getting its phones on the market, given that they were so expensive no one seemed to want them when you had cheaper, better alternatives. Well, this iteration of the smartphone has all the bells and whistles you’ll need, without the price tag. The 18:9 display is gorgeous and has a nice smooth finish about it.

Plus, these phones have headphone jacks.

Your move Apple.
