Amazon: World Domination

So they beat hundreds of businesses out of money, and are now deciding to do the same in 300-400 physical stores around the US.

Hurray! Those little book shops you used to visit? Owned by someone you knew, or perhaps the place you bought your first copy of Harry Potter or your first picture book?

GONE.

The dusty smell and feeling of all those bound copies in one place?

GONE.

Replaced by white lights and sleek shelves. Plastic cases, and a cashier who couldn’t care less what you’re reading. Staff who have minimal knowledge of what you’re about to indulge in for hours and hours, unless it’s Fifty Shades of Utter Tosh.

The company has been accused of ‘abusing its power’ over the dominance of the book market, after starting 20 years ago as an online bookstore.

Not forgetting to mention – although I’m not sure if this is just personal preference – that their customer service, so far as the last few months are concerned, has been dreadful.

Not sending packages then coming to pick up packages to take them back, sending completely the wrong items.

Basically, Amazon is taking over the Earth, starting with books. Then TV, then film.

Then people.
