In November, DC’s Justice League drops in cinemas around the world, but the next movie in the DC line-up, Aquaman has just finished production and will be out in December 2018.

Jason Momoa, Aquaman himself and director James Wan took to social media to celebrate the end of the shoot. Bad guy actress Amber Heard is shown in Momoa’s post and vice versa. Wan posted on Twitter thanking the cast and crew.

Heard plays the Queen of the Sea, Mera. The movie is star-studded, with the likes of Nicole Kidman playing Aquaman’s mum, Willem Dafoe as Dr Vulko, who is the chief scientific adviser of Atlantis. A weird lineup for an Aquaman movie, right?

Earlier in the year, Momoa spoke about the movie and his role in shaping how people see this character. Given that this is the first onscreen appearance in recent memory, he said ‘there aren’t like four Aquaman before me. I get to set the tone for it.’

This obviously references the fact that DC’s biggest hitters, Batman and Superman, have both had several actors play the roles before now. Batman has been played by the likes of Christian Bale, Val Kilmer, George Clooney and is currently being played by Ben Affleck. Superman has been played by the likes of Christopher Reeves, who was the longest running actor in the role, starring in four movies. Brandon Routh played him once in the 2006 movie Superman Returns and the Man of Steel is now being played by Henry Cavill.

We say played.

He mostly just makes this face.

Great acting there Cavill. Good job.

Am I still salty about paying £20 to see BvS? Yes.
