After a report in July by The Hollywood Reporter, which stated Ben Affleck was already looking for a way out of the DC Universe, he has confirmed that the future of his role as the Dark Knight is a little hazy. He has only starred in one movie thus far as the Bat (2016’s Batman V Superman).

Speaking to USA Today the actor revealed that the standalone Batman movie he was originally set to direct, after handing the project over to Matt Reeves, was now something he was ‘contemplating’. He then went on to say, ‘You don’t do it forever, so I want to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it’.

It’s a shame he’s looking for an exit so quickly, given that he was the only watchable thing in BVS.

The Batman, as this standalone is so often referenced as, still has no release date, no confirmed actors, other than Affleck and seems to be a tad dead in the water before the boat has left the harbour. That was a good boat analogy.

He will star in this week’s Justice League, which has already gained quite a bit of positive press, after people praised it for its lighter tone and characters. Just don’t expect a show-stopping plot.

Justice League is out on Friday.
