London based trio Years and Years have been named the winners of the BBC Sound of 2015.

The band consists of bassist Mikey Goldsworthy, key board player Emre Turkmen and vocalist Olly Alexandra. The electronic pop band have had a successful 2014 performing with Clean Bandit and Sam Smith as support acts. The band have also performed at numerous UK festivals.

The long list of top 15 artists was published in December and narrowed down to the top 5 acts which were revealed each day last week, with the winner being announced by Huw Stevens as he stood in for Nick Grimshaw on the Radio One Breakfast Show on Friday morning.

Around 140 influential industry experts voted on the winners, being asked to name their three favourite acts.

Brits Critic choice winner James Bay came second followed by unsigned artist Stormzy who came in third place.

Years and Years new single ‘King,’ which premiered on BBC Radio 1 last week can be heard below.
