The one question we’ve all asked about Marvel Studios is, where is the Black Widow movie? Well, after finding a writer, we might be one step closer.

Variety reports that marvel has now found a writer for the project, Jac Schaeffer. The movie is still in the ‘very early’ stages of development. More importantly, Marvel has not yet greenlit the project. Marvel president Kevin Feige reportedly met with ‘several’ writers before signing up Schaeffer. The other writers were not disclosed.

Conversations with Feige and the writers reportedly focused on the story they wanted to tell with this character. Schaeffer apparently had the best, or liked it the most.

Widow recently got her own line-up of comics, published by Marvel.

You probably don’t know Schaeffer by name, but she has plenty of big writing notches on her belt. She wrote the script to the comedy The Shower, which will star Anne Hathaway. She’s also in the process of writing Nasty Women, which a female focused spin on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Which will also star Hathaway.

There has been discussion about the Black Widow movie for a while now. In October 2016, Johansson, who plays the spy, said ‘time might not be on her side’. She said:

‘If I did it, I’d have to do it while I still actually wanted to wear a skin-tight catsuit. I don’t know how much longer that’s going to be.’

In 2017, initial talks with Feige and Johansson were positive.

The only thing keeping the movie from being made is timing for Marvel and Johansson’s other projects.

Scarlett Johansson will reprise her role as the assassin in Infinity War later this year.
