Blair sticks his nose in

Despite it no longer being his country, his choice or his place, former Prime Minister Tony Blair has said in a speech today that it is his “mission” to make people change their minds on Brexit.

Before we continue, it is interesting to note that Mr Blair decided not to charge one million pounds for this speech which is surprising when compared to his track record.

Speaking in London, Mr Blair argued that people voted for Brexit “without knowledge of the true terms”. As a result, he urged for there to be another way of allowing people to vote again to express a change in viewpoint. The Labour politician said: “Whether you do it through another referendum or another method, that’s a second order question. But this issue is the single most important decision this country has taken since the Second World War and debate can’t now be shut down about it.”

In response to his speech, former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said he “agreed with every word,” which is no surprise considering he wants a second referendum.

Blair received harsher criticism from prominent Leave MP Iain Duncan Smith who said his speech was “both arrogant and a form of bullying” as he told the British people “they were too stupid to be able to understand what they were voting on”.

And, finally, to nobody’s surprise, Nigel Farage said that the former PM was a “yesterday’s man” – something no one has readily criticised him for…
