While it may have reached a box office gross of over $300 million, Batman v Superman was a critical blow to DC’s cinematic universe. Many called the story bloated and underwhelming given the hype, and Warner Bros. has decided to open a new division to oversee the creative direction of the DC cinematic universe.

The company has appointed producers Jon Berg and Geoff Johns to take charge of the new section. Jon Berg is currently an executive producer and Geoff Johns is DC’s chief content creator, who launched the label’s many TV shows (Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow).

Many have slated the DC's series attempts. The last season of Arrow and Flash have met with mixed reactions at best.

This is similar to how Kevin Feige (Marvel Studios President) manages the creative direction of the films, too.

Many would agree that after BvS, the DC cinematic universe is in dire need of some direction. Even Man of Steel should have sparked some concern. After the shaky plot and rather awkward end, it’s not surprising to see them trying to bring some focus to the creativity.

Batfleck has been signed to don the cape and cowl for the next few films. As well as starring in and directing a standalone Batman film.

Along with this shuffle of interests, Ben Affleck (who was arguably the best thing in BvS) had been appointed executive producer to one of the Justice League films.

The studio was also looking to screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, who was supposed to write the movie The Flash. But, in another case of BvS-fallout, the studio has reconsidered, and is looking for someone more seasoned to head up the film.

The next big screen DC movie will be Suicide Squad in August. There have been reports of reshoots, in order to enhance the film’s comedic value, after the fans responded well to the funnier trailer.

As it stands though, Civil War has nearly reached the $1bn mark, leaving DC in the dust.
