Two of these in one month, huh? What can I say? A lot of games came out this month. But none are larger than a Call of Duty title. But while critics may be raving about the thing, Steam reviews are bashing it for being a terrible port and for the game failing to feel authentic. Let’s see what everyone else said. Take these with a pinch of salt maybe.

The game was revealed just before E3 this year.

GameSpot – ‘As one of the most comprehensive and filler-free Call of Duty’s in recent memory, Call of Duty: WWII successfully capitalizes on the series’ strengths.’

Polygon – ‘While it returns to the era of classic Call of Duty, it neither captures the surprise of the early games nor the ambition of modern entries. Rather than serve as a reboot, Call of Duty: WWII is more of a redundancy.’

A lot of people will just pick the thing up for the Zombies mode, a staple for many fans.

Game Informer – ‘While the campaign fails to provide a compelling tale and is often bogged down in uninteresting large-scale slaughter, Call of Duty: WII nails it’s multiplayer, new social hub, and zombie modes to provide the back to boots-on-the-ground experience fans have clamoured for since the first foray into space.’

PC Gamer – ‘If the matchmaking works, the net code is up to snuff, and if WWII can maintain a PC population larger than a small town in North Dakota, this could be a great Call of Duty for anyone bothered by the direction the multiplayer was going with the complications futuristic warfare rolled in. But a dull, safe campaign has me aching to return to fictional wars, something that at least gives Call of Duty the room it needs to be loud and dumb and free.’

The game comes with a supposedly fleshed out campaign, with all the trappings of a WW2 story.

Games Radar – ‘Taking a step back really exposes the single player as a collection of good levels and ideas strung together, rather than a narrative. The experience overall though is good and, with such an enjoyable and varied multiplayer offering, everything ultimately balances out.’

And there you have it. It seems to be a decent game, just maybe wait for a patch or two on the PC.
