Championship League Updates

Saturday proved to be a very chaotic day for the management of Newcastle United Football Club as they triumphed over Wolverhampton Wanderers. They won 1-0 with the only goal of the match being scored by Aleksandar Mitrovic who caused quite a stir in terms of being booked. He narrowly escaped a second yellow card for apparently kicking another player’s legs from the back. If he had have been sent off, Newcastle might have tied with the Wolves and Brighton (who are currently in second place) could have had the number one spot. Brighton are still a point behind Newcastle and all it would take for them to win the Championship League would be for Newcastle to have a bad week. Brighton won against Burton Albion 4-1 which shows that they are not to be underestimated as a team.

Burton manager, Nigel Clough, had this to say after their match on Saturday:

“We have five or six players missing so no one would have expected us to get anything. I am disappointed with the goals that we conceded but the pleasing thing is that we didn’t crumble.”

It definitely says something when your manager’s expectations are so low.
