Charity DLC Free for Everyone

We haven’t touched on this simply due to the chaos behind the original story but we’ll keep it brief.

Basically Warner Bros. Interactive are the worst. They took the much-anticipated Shadow of War game and turned into a cash cow, pumping it full of microtransactions, pre-order bonuses and perhaps worst of all, charity DLC.

The DLC was to commemorate a developer, Mike Forgey, who worked at Monolith Games, who died of cancer quite suddenly last year. But, because the publisher, Warner Bros. are the worst, they decided to put a spin on how that DLC was sold. While their intentions were all well and good, the way they would sell it would be as such:

$3.50 of every US purchase would be put into a fund for the family of the deceased. But only in certain US territories. So this led to people asking, where will the rest of the money go? As if the answer wasn’t as obvious as ‘it’ll all be going into Warner Bros.’ back pocket.’ The fact that they would be profiting off of a man’s death is disgusting, enough for me to not even consider purchasing this game now.

Totalbiscuit did a rather well-spoken video on it, considering he himself suffers from the disease in question. If you’re going to watch anyone’s perspective on it, this would be a good place to start.

However, the company, in an unprecedented move, have decided to make the DLC free for everyone. Warner Bros. Interactive will instead be donating to the family of Mike Forgey. Better, Warner Bros.

Much better.

If not a little late.

If you are still considering purchasing the game and want to donate still, or just want to help anyway, you can donate here.

If they’d started like this, maybe I could forgive the loot boxes. But nope.
