So it’s Monday and time for us here at b**p to take a look at the artists and hits that are dominating charts in the run up to Christmas.

ALBUMS:

1) Made in the AM – One Direction
Since its release on the 13th of November, the album has, in true 1D style, reached the top spot on the album chart this week. The album was announced on 22nd of September this year. The group began to reveal the song listing via their Snapchat stories, which was later confirmed by iTunes.

2) Purpose – Justin Bieber
What other purpose could a multi-million dollar star have than releasing a new album? Coming in at a second place, Bieber’s new album features some of the singles that we’ve all grown accustomed to, including ‘Sorry’ and ‘What do you mean?’ It has recently been revealed that the 21-year-old has been coping with depression, which you can read all about here.

3) If I Can Dream – Elvis Presley
Still clinging onto the top five, the King certainly hasn’t left the building yet. While he may be down a few spots, the record has been labelled the second fastest selling record of the year, just behind Noel Gallagher’s Chasing Yesterday.

4) Alone in the Universe – Jeff Lynne’s ELO
After playing their first intimate gig in 30 years in America, the release of this new album couldn’t have been better timed. With over three decades under his belt in music, the album is sure to impress, climbing to fourth in its first week.

5)Get Weird – Little Mix
Clinging on to fifth place, the British band of girls dropped two places.

SINGLES:

1) ‘Sorry’ – Justin Bieber
With his album hitting number two in the charts, it’s not surprising that he would have the top spot for singles too. Interestingly, this is only his first entry in the top five this week! Yes, the star has nabbed three spaces in just a week.

2) ‘Hello’ – Adele
Since almost everyone lost their minds at her album release, it appears to be a slow road for Adele. With a few of her newer songs on ’25’ yet to come into the charts’ eye, it’s second place for our ‘Someone Like You‘ star.

3) ‘Love Yourself’- Justin Bieber
A new entry by the pop star, alongside the drop of his new album. ‘Love Yourself’ was actually co-produced by Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco, and features a more acoustic, less electronic feel than some of his other songs.

4) ‘Sax’ – Fleur East
Managing to stay in the top five, this former X-Factor runner-up is still rolling in adoration with her first chart hit.

5) ‘What Do You Mean’ – Justin Bieber
What Do You Mean?’ has been out since August and has therefore been playing everywhere you turn. He’s the Adele of pop in America. He’s everywhere. With the star battling depression, it should come as a small solace that he managed to invade the top five list three times this week.

That’s all for this week, folks! Tune in next time.
