Corbyn Speaks in Gateshead

5 June 2017

By Lauren E. White

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is today returning to the campaign trail in Gateshead following the brief pause to pay respect to the victims of the London terror attack on Saturday night.

It is a highly anticipated event and Mr Corbyn, whose position in the polls has been improving as we approach polling day on Thursday, will be sharing the platform with high-profile northern MP Ian Lavery and Laura Pidcock, the candidate for North West Durham.

According to the Facebook event page set up, 4,300 people have said they will be turning up and a further 5,600 are interested.

The rally will take place outside of the Sage Gateshead, a fantastic backdrop to showcase the best of the north.

Many young people are expected to attend the rally mingling with MP candidates from around the region.

We will be there tonight and will have the full details and analysis of Mr Corbyn’s highly-anticipated address for you following the event.

The rally takes place at 6:00pm onwards. Bag searches and body searches will also take place as a security protocol.
