Oh Darksiders. You veritable love child of all things dungeon-crawling. The first was released in 2010, and a very young and wide-eyed Alex played it and was amazed by the fights, the combos, the graphics and art style. Obviously since then my taste has been refined by objectively better games.

But there’s something about those two games. Something about slashing through hell and all the monsters it throws at you. Something about cutting down enormous creatures with your sword in Darksiders or your choice of scythe and secondary weapon in Darksiders II. The combat was tight, with a cliché story that still, weirdly, gives me chills to this day.

A roguish horseman, forced to fight his way to the truth. And his brother, in the second game, trying to save his kin from a fate worse than death.

So you can imagine my excitement when I read this:

After the closue and takeover of THQ back in 2013, all hope of the continuation of the Horsemen story was lost. But, after a leak on Amazon, we have some screenshots, and even a synopsis.

“Return to an apocalyptic Earth in Darksiders III, a hack-n-slash action-adventure where players assume the role of Fury in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The most unpredictable and enigmatic of the Four Horsemen, Fury must succeed where many have failed – to bring balance to the forces that now ravage Earth. Darksiders III is the long-anticipated, third chapter in the critically-acclaimed Darksiders franchise.”

If it continues the trend, then it’s likely it’ll be pretty decent.
