Deadpool 2 opened last weekend and made quite a bit of money at the box office. Pulling in $125 million in the US and Canada it has finally pushed Marvel Studios’ Infinity War off the top spot. However, it has made slightly less than the original movie’s first box office haul.

The movie’s first-week performance came in below the projections of $130 million to $150 million. Deadpool (2016) made $132 million in its first week two years ago. That movie set the record for an R-rated movie. Deadpool 2 is now second on that list.

Raking in $174 million overseas, however, the sequel is doing rather well. It had a sleuth of positive reviews the week before its release. Many praised Ryan Reynolds carrying the movie with his charm and jokes. It apparently has a very strong emotional core for a movie about a guy in bright red spandex.

Infinity War has pulled in a further $28 million this weekend, pushing the overall total worldwide to a massive $1.8 billion. Which is completely mad.

You can see all of our charts tomorrow on Charts and That, but if you can’t hang on until then, check out last week’s.
