Deadpool fans will have quite a bit to be excited about next year. As well as the second film to come from the red-clad, fourth-wall-breaking mercenary, we’re also getting an R-rated series from Donald Glover and Stephen Glover.

The pair will work on the show together, as writers, producers, and show runners.

This collaboration will come about just after Marvel and FX’s recent project Legion, which follows the story of an insanely powerful mutant, with multiple personality disorder, with every personality having a different power. It was very well received, and obviously shows promise for other shows formed by the collaboration.

Deadpool attracted mass critical acclaim in early 2016, showing people that superhero films could indeed be done for adults, and was an incredibly refreshing look at the hero formula.

The series will be animated, and in a statement from Nick Grad, FX’s co-president of original programming, he said:

“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta. With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking, and entirely original.”

Deadpool 2 begins production in June, and last month it was confirmed that Josh Brolin will play Cable, and he will be joining returning star Ryan Reynolds, and Zazie Beetz, who will be playing Domino.
