After recent information that The Batman would not begin shooting until 2018, actor Joe Manganiello, who was slated to play Deathstroke, might not actually be in it.

In an interview with Pittsburgh Today, he was asked if he was still part of the cast for the standalone film. His answer though, was his hands raised, saying “Maybe. We’ll see.”

This kind of sucks really. If they can’t even hold on to schedules for their movies, it doesn’t exactly inspire faith in the movie itself. It has also been reported the movie is currently going through a rather extensive rewrite, after Ben Affleck stepped down as director, and brought on Matt Reeves.

While he might not be in The Batman, Deathstroke could well appear in Justice League later this year.

Deathstroke is DC’s most dangerous assassin, and has tangled with Batman and Green Arrow more times than you can count on two hands. He had a prominent role in Season 2 of Arrow, played by Manu Bennett, and was also a side boss in Arkham Knight. A rather disappointing side boss but still.

The next DC film to be released will be Wonder Woman in June.
