DeKnight to Direct Pacific Rim 2

For the last few months, there have been numerous tweets and hints at a possible Pacific Rim 2 from original director Guillermo Del Toro.

In case you were living under a rock in 2014, Pacific Rim follows the story of mankind’s last hope against huge monsters hell-bent on destroying the Earth. To fight them off, they did the only sensible thing humans would do:

According to Deadline, Steven S. DeKnight has been hired by producers at Legendary Pictures to lead Pacific Rim 2. DeKnight has famously, and rather recently, worked on Netflix’s roaring success Daredevil, which is up for its next season soon.

Del Toro said in a tweet:

Last month, it was said that the Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth director would also remake the sci-fi classic Fantastic Voyage. He is also developing a new animated show for Netflix, called Trollhunters.
