If CNBC is to be believed, Disney will be acquiring 21st Century Fox by the end of the week, giving them further rights to certain superheroes.

X-Men and The Fantastic Four are both owned by Fox, which, if purchased by Disney, might give both IPs a much-needed facelift. The X-Men movies were very hit and miss, with Logan being one of the best exceptions. Let’s just not talk about The Fantastic Four. Disney remains the last company standing when it comes to bidding on Fox. Disney is said to have put down $60 billion to acquire the broadcasting company.

Oh, my word this movie was so bad.

They would then gain control of Fox’s TV and film studios, along with their cable networks like FX, Nat Geo and regional sports networks in America. Fox would keep its news and business assets, like Fox News and Fox Business.

The movie rights Disney would gain would mean the X-Men and Fantastic Four would both join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not just these, however, but also Alien, Die Hard and Avatar. Obviously, they won’t join the MCU.

This was also total garbage.

Disney plans to release its own streaming site in 2019, to compete with Netflix. If this deal goes through, their library of TV shows and movies would easily rival Netflix. The multi-media company is decimating other studios in the market when it comes to film. Every Marvel movie has been successful and for the most part enjoyable too.

Hugh Jackman even commented on the move, saying:

‘It’s interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together. And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head.
‘But it was like, “Oh well, that’s not gonna happen,” and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline — it was just the possibility of it and who knows what’s gonna happen, obviously — I was like, “Hang on!” But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else, I would like to see Wolverine in there.’

It would seem nothing can stop them. Warner Bros tried with the DC movies, but they haven’t even come close to Marvel’s total gross yet.

And they were all terrible.

Until an actual deal is made, it’s hard to tell what this will all mean in the end. We’ll just have to wait and see.
