Dove, the beauty company have apologized and removed a series of racist adverts from Facebook. The ad featured images, of a black woman taking off her shirt, to reveal a white woman underneath. The third image allegedly shows an Asian woman, although no face can be seen. The brand tweeted:
An image we recently posted on Facebook missed the mark in representing women of color thoughtfully. We deeply regret the offense it caused.

The post was called out by makeup artist Nay the mua, who shared them, bringing them to the limelight. This was the ad in question:

Honestly. We can see how it could be construed as racist. Most definitely. Something similar happened in 2011 when the company ran this ad:

Depicting a before and after picture, but the after looking like the white woman. The picture was referring to the picture in the background, showing wrinkled damaged skin and smooth skin. But it looks bad, doesn’t it?
Dove has apologized, saying:
“We have removed the post and have not published any other related content. We apologise deeply and sincerely for the offence that it has caused.”
Who comes up with this stuff?
