Drunk at 30,000 Feet

A man believed to be attempting to hi-jack a Virgin Airlines flight from Brisbane to Bali, earlier this week, was merely a drunken passenger, officials have said. A distress signal was sent out by the pilot of the Boeing 737 an hour before landing in Indonesia, but it was merely a false alarm, as ‘(the passenger) was trying to enter the cockpit, banging on the door, but he did not enter the cockpit’.

Bali airport was placed into lockdown, with all incoming and outgoing flights cancelled, for several hours. The passenger was arrested and handcuffed by a convoy of soldiers, and none of the other passengers were harmed.
