24 July 2016

Although it may not seem like it, due to the temperamental nature of British weather, summer is well and truly upon us now, which of course means the exciting start of festival season! Brits young and old everywhere are forking over their cash to stand in a muddy field for a weekend listening to some of the world’s best music in style. This year’s festival trends are looking funkier than ever, so here’s a list of a few trends you can expect to be seeing or might even want to try out yourself!

1. Polarised Sunglasses

After a couple of years of the wayfarer topping the list of everybody’s sunglasses wishlist, 2016 has seen the rise of a new shining star. That’s right, polarised sunglasses have become the ultimate festival accessory this year after the release of the Quay Australia My Girl sunglasses kickstarted the new summer fashion craze. Even model and socialite Gigi Hadid couldn’t resist getting her hands on a pair!

2. Crazy Eye Makeup

Festival makeup has swiftly moved from neon paint in 2013, pretty bindis in 2014 to crazy glitter last year; yet it appears that this year is all about getting creative and funky with your eye makeup. Think weird and wonderful lashes, bright and bold colours like purple and pink, and as much glitter and diamantés as your heart desires. Go crazy!

3. Braids, braids and more braids

When you think of festival hair you might automatically think of girls with long beachy waves and flowers in their hair, but this year girls everywhere are ditching the flower garlands for a fresher trend which has come to the table. It’s all about braids this year so think French plaits, fishtails, and corn rows and be as creative as you like with them because this summer normal hair rules are completely out the window.
