If you’re looking for a hilarious comedy to watch over the next few weeks, Why Him? could be the one. Starring James Franco (Laird) and Bryan Cranston (Ned), this is set to be very popular.

While visiting his daughter at Stanford University, Ned is faced with most father’s biggest nightmare – a socially incompetent boyfriend (though he does have good intentions). After discovering that Laird is hoping to propose to his daughter, a rivalry begins between the two, with some pretty comical results.

However, your response to the film is likely to depend on your view on crude humour. If you dislike swearing or sexual humour, this certainly isn’t for you. If you can, you’re in luck.

So, what’s so good about this film? Well, it has a great cast for a start, with each actor adhering to their role perfectly. Laird is – of course – over the top, but this only makes for more laughs; I mean, who could be as ridiculous as him? As well as this, the film is set right in the 21st century, which will undoubtedly be appealing to a lot of viewers.

Just remember, while there is no doubt that there is some predictability to this storyline, it does not take away from the humour. Likewise, though the first five minutes of the film may leave you wondering what all the fuss is about, IT GETS BETTER! We promise.

With great detail given to every aspect of the film, it is one that you could watch time and time again and find something new to laugh at. Just take a look at some of Laird’s artwork and you’ll know what we mean.

If you’re not yet convinced, take a look at this trailer.
