The Foo Fighters revealed last night that they will be headlining the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury this year on the Friday night. As always, Glastonbury will take place over the last weekend of June, running this year from Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28th June.

The band are the first big act to announce they will be taking part in the summer festival and it was after they were named Best International band at the NME awards last night in London that the announcement was made.

The Foo Fighters couldn’t attend the NME awards so frontman David Gohl sent an announcement speech via video message, saying “Ee’re very thankful and very happy – sorry we couldn’t make it tonight, but we will be seeing you over the summer at some big outdoor festival that nobody knows we’re playing. It’s Glastonbury.

“So we’ll see you at Glastonbury – thanks a lot everybody.”

The band are already playing a series of dates later this year, fitting in perfectly with their headlining night at Glasto.

-Sunderland Stadium of Light: 25th May
-Old Trafford, Manchester: 27th May
-Wembley: 19th and 20th June
-Edinburgh, Murrayfield Stadium: 23rd June
