If you live in the North East, you’ll have probably heard a lot about the Great North Run over the past couple of days. But, if you don’t know what it is, it’s a huge half marathon that takes place every year, with participants running from Newcastle Upon Tyne to South Shields.

It’s a pretty big deal for a lot of us.

Though, probably a greater occasion for a couple who tied the knot at the finishing line yesterday.

Laura Cort and Christina Richter have become the first couple ever to tie the knot at the finish line of the Great North Run. What an achievement!

According to The Chronicle, Christina said:

‘I think when you grow up here, the race is a big deal. For Laura to have the opportunity to run here was special. It was very fitting to come back here to get married.’

After completing the race together back in 2016, Christina prosed to Laura, making this occasion even more special.

Previously, Laura also said:

‘When [Christina] popped the question I had no idea the ceremony would be at this year’s Great North Run. No-one has ever done it before so we are making history.’

Would you like to tie the knot just after completing a half marathon? We’re not so sure!

Let us know what you think.
