The Great North Snowdogs have been scattered across the region for the past few months, but they’re finally making their way to somewhere a little bit warmer. After being sold at a charity auction yesterday, the art pieces raised over £250,000 for St. Oswald’s Hospice.

The Snowdogs were part of ‘Tyne and Wear’s biggest ever mass-participation public event’, consisting of 60 large Snowdogs and 97 smaller ones. Each was designed and decorated by the local community, bringing together businesses and schools to create a public art trail across the region.

The finished designs were each unique and brilliant, bringing joy to everyone who encountered one. As well as the larger dogs, which were created by artists (both well-known and undiscovered), smaller dogs were given their own trail, created by children of the North East. This was great to see, clearly showing just how talented the young people of the region are!

Here are some of our favourites.
