Rockstar games have launched their newest version of anti-cheat policies in GTA V.

Players who abuse the game mechanics, or exploit data to benefit them in game could receive a temporary ban, then upon second offences, a permanent ban from online play altogether.

Another change will be that users who have gained money through ‘illegitimate means’ will have that amount removed from their in-game accounts. Rockstar have done this in order to ‘keep the gameplay environment fair’.

“If you received an alert saying that your shared bank balance was adjusted, that is because you had illegitimate funds in your account,” the developer said.

Players who obtained money through the purchase of Shark Cards are fine, however.

Depending on the severity of the incident, it will dictate how long you will be banned for. But you can even get banned for simply being a nuisance. Destroying players’ personal property, and ‘interfering with other players’ gameplay experience.’ In a negative way.

Other games, like Overwatch, have recently implemented new, stricter anti-cheat policies. Overwatch players could see themselves getting banned if they use any third party cheats, like aim assist or player highlighters.

What do you think of GTA’s cheat policy?

If it’s anything other than ‘cheaters should be banned’, then don’t let the door hit ya, where the good Lord split ya.
