Since its release a year ago, the PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn has sold 7.6 million copies, setting a record for Sony as ‘the most successful new first-party franchise launch on PS4’.

The developer, Guerilla Games, issued a statement from the CEO Hermen Hulst, saying:

‘We had huge ambition for Horizon Zero Dawn and as we approached the launch we knew people were excited, but to see sales of this volume is truly mind-blowing.’

Horizon Zero Dawn was released on 28th February 2017, making it a year and a day old. The game sold a massive 2.6 million units in the first two weeks, with 3.4 million by June of 2017. Of those, 915,000 were digital with the rest being physical.

If you still haven’t played the game, it’s about £35 on the PS4 Store, but you can likely find a copy of it in Game for less.

The game also had an expansion last year, called The Frozen Wilds, which was released in November. You can get the DLC bundled with the base game in the Complete Edition.

In other games news, Overwatch welcomes its next hero, in the form of Brigitte, a flail-wielding, shield-bearing support character. Have a look.

She looks pretty cool. That flail looks serious.
