The Terminator franchise has been going since the mid 80s, and while the first two films were an epic for the time, the future of the time-travelling, robot-exploding franchise looks to be on its last legs.

After last year’s abysmal Terminator: Genisys, Paramount has had radio silence on whether the franchise will continue or not. Back in January the film was removed from schedules, and it looks as though any form of sequel or pre-sequel (whatever the heck the timeline is) has been abandoned. Arnold Schwarzenegger, however, is confident that the next movie will still happen.

As reported by the Telegraph, Schwarzenegger was interviewed by Australian news show Weekend Today. When he was asked about whether we should expect to see him in the next film, he responded “I am looking forward to it, absolutely.”

Terminator: Genisys finished its theatrical run last year with a gross of $440 million worldwide, with only $90 million of that being US cinemas. Producer Dana Goldberg said that it was still an active property and that they would “use data and research to do a worldwide study and really talk to audiences about what they loved, and what maybe didn’t work for them, so that the next step we take with the franchise is the right one.”

Let’s be honest, I think what fans would really love is for producers and directors to create some new b**ping IPs instead of rehashing old ones, in a mad grab for cash.

Have you seen the newest RoboCop? This piece of garbage?

But when will it end?
