Over a month ago, B**P reported on missing Sally Allan, a 59-year-old who was last seen leaving her house on Boxing Day and heading for the Quayside in early hours of the morning. It was suggested that Sally may have been suffering from mental health problems, and so in aid of her and others who may be experiencing the same thing, a fundraising page was set up – this page has now raised over £15,000 in aid of the cause.

Unfortunately, however, a body found in the water on South Tyneside has now been confirmed to be hers. This is devastating news for Sally’s family and friends, and our thoughts go out to anyone who knew her.

Yesterday, an inquest was opened into her death. Coroner Terence Carney has opened and adjourned the inquest until March 21st.

Hopefully, authorities will soon accept that there is an undeniable correlation between mental health problems and events like this – thanks to the money raised on behalf of Sally’s memory, this might just be possible.
