Inspirational- Ant & Dec

After serious consideration, the writers here at b**p have pinpointed people who they consider the most inspirational to young people. From TV personalities to world leaders to record breaking authors, our inspirational people are all a force to be reckoned with in their own right.

Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are the ultimate Geordie duo. TV shows such as Britain’s Got Talent, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here wouldn’t be the shows they are today without the presenting double act. Ant and Dec, both 38, shot to fame back in 1988 when they played PJ and Duncan on the children’s television show Byker Grove. Three highlights:

  1. A tearful Ant and Dec received a 25 year landmark award this year at the National TV Awards for being national treasures for a quarter of a century. They were very humble and kept themselves composed throughout their speech.
  2. The duo performed their own song, ‘Let’s Get Ready to Rumble’ – which was released back in 1994 – on their prime-time show Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway last year. The song became a big hit (something it wasn’t back in the 90s) and sold over 35,000 copies in one week, sending it straight to number one. Instead of the cashing in on the royalties from the sales, the generous Geordies decided to donate all money made by the sales to Childline, founded by NSPCC.
  3. TV wouldn’t be the same without them; they are an inspiration because they keep their heads down and keep doing what they love most without any controversy.
