The newest Overwatch update has been announced, and this is something fans have been begging for.
Blizzard posted a short clip of Mei, wearing a new skin, with a Year of the Rooster symbol next to her, saying ‘Save the date!’ for the 24th January. There has been no word on what the update will include, but it looks like Mei is definitely getting a new skin.

And, we seem to be getting a new skin for D.Va for the first time in millennia. It seems to be florally decorated, and fit for the occasion.

Blizzard told Polygon that the Overwatch Year of the Rooster event is going to be similar in scale to previous seasonal events, like the Halloween and Christmas updates. It might not be the only update at the beginning of this year too, as rumours are circulating that the game will be getting a Valentine’s Day update in February.
It’s awesome to see Mei, one of the only Chinese characters in the game, get some real screen time with what will feel like a personalised update for her.
新年快乐!
