So now we know why the next movie is taking so long.

Ever since 2015, director George Miller has been talking about his plans for a follow-up. Despite the rumours last year that a movie was close to production, there has been no further news. Well, now we know why.

The two main characters, Max and Furiosa, form an uneasy, but eventually strong alliance, as they desperately try to survive in the wastes. Charlize Theron is fantastic here.

Deadline has reported that Miller has taken Warner to court in Australia after the company refused to pay a promised multimillion-dollar bonus for Fury Road. The director claims the studio promised to pay him a $7 million bonus if the movie came below its $157 million budget. Although it went over, Miller has stated that it was decisions by Warner that has caused delays and the cost overruns.

Tom Hardy was fantastic as Max, offering a mostly mute, grunty character with a heart of gold.

The movie made $378.4 million worldwide and starred Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy and Nicholas Hoult. It was nominated for 10 Oscars, more than any Australian movie in history.

In a statement, the studio has said ‘We disagree and will vigorously defend against these claims’.

I just want a new Mad Max movie.
