You know what? Pink is great. She’s like the auntie who would slip you an extra tenner in your birthday card or give you a proper pep talk whilst slightly tipsy at a Christmas party or New Year’s Eve. All in all, she’s great. A shining example of how to be body confident and accepting of yourself no matter your features.
At the VMA’s on Sunday, she won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and her speech was incredible. She details a conversation she had with her young daughter of six, about what it means to be beautiful and being comfortable in your own body. You can see the whole thing below:
As someone who is often troubled by the thought of gender and how one presents oneself, like most people at the ripe old age of 20, to see someone as influential as Pink speak about it in such an open way is incredibly satisfying.
We could all do with a Power Point presentation about how awesome we are from time to time I think.
But for real, anyone else up to fight that six-year-old who called her daughter ugly?
