Ever wanted a candle that smells like Glasgow which could help a social enterprise project? Well, these Glasgow University students could have you covered.

Working with the Enactus group, an organisation dedicated to ‘finding entrepreneurial solutions to social problems.’

They are also working with Glasgow’s Women’s Aid and will be teaching women how to make soy-based candles. According to the project, they will smell just like the city. Whether that’s a good thing or not is up to personal preference we suppose.

A spokesperson for Enactus Glasgow said:

‘The project is designed to be economical, socially and environmentally sustainable.

The profit from the candles is split to directly providing the women with life supplies, running GWA and reinvested into the project.

The project is socially sustainable because the students are teaching the women the candle making skills and business skills to develop their own business.’

The candles are inspired by Scotland’s westernmost city and the scents will mirror that. From the Fruit Market Candle to the Botanic Gardens, they range from all over the city.

Well, that’s nice I guess.

I was expecting candles that smelled like Glasgow’s true heritage. Kebabs and fried Mars Bars.

This one not enough for you? Take a look at our last Midweek Blues if you need some extra picking up.
