Keanu Reeves looks glum for two hours, and it’s never been so fun.

With the sequel coming next week, we thought we’d give the first film a spot on our review reel. If you’re not a fan of action, or Keanu Reeves, look away now, because we’re about to gush.

John Wick, an ex-assassin who recently lost his wife, and to keep him company, her dying wish is for him to have a dog, so he has someone to love, other then his car, which is gorgeous by the way.

But, then Theon Greyjoy from Game of Thrones comes in and messes everything up. Alfie Allen plays the son of one of John Wick’s past associates. He’s a Russian crime boss who let the assassin go to lead a normal life, but their paths become entwined once more. The Russians invade John’s house, steal his car, and kill his dog.

From here, Wick realises he has nothing to lose, and goes to war.

The film is great. It’s well-choreographed, well-written, and (thanks to Keanu doing his own stunts), insanely fluid and just oozes cool.

It also does a very good job of world building. It creates this secret society of assassins that is only eluded to slightly, and hopefully we’ll get a better scope of this underground world in the second one.

John Wick: Chapter 2 hits cinemas next week, and if the first one is anything to go by it’ll be awesome.
