One Direction were the big winners last night in Scotland receiving three awards including best pop act at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards. Ariana Grande also had a good night, receiving two awards for best female artist and best song for her hit single ‘Problem’ featuring Iggy Azelea.

‘Starships’ singer, Nicki Minaj, flew in (literally) to host the award ceremony which was held in Glasgow at the Hydro arena. Minaj won best hip hop artist and celebrated by buying 1,000 drinks for the crowd and showing them in cash.

After multiple outfit changes, Nicki performed a mashup of her hit songs including ‘Anaconda’, while other big acts performed such as a heavily pregnant Alicia Keys, Charli XCX, Kiesza, U2 and Ed Sheeran.
