If you’re looking for an addictive new show to watch, look no further than Netflix original Riverdale, starring Lili Reinhart, KJ Apa and Cole Sprouse. Riverdale is a mystery crime drama set in a small town which is full of dark secrets and scandals that all seem to revolve round the notorious and crazy Blossom family. The show is best described as 90210 meets Sherlock. There’s all the drama of a typical American high school that includes jocks, popular kids, musicians and the nerds as well as the stereotypical gossiping villains. What sets it apart from general high school dramas is the complexity of the plot.

The storyline is that one of the Blossom family children, Jason, was murdered on the 4th of July. Everyone in the town seems to have a tiny piece of the puzzle but an unwillingness to cooperate or get over feuds that are generations old means that no one can be sure what actually happened. Every resident is involved in some way and no one can even trust their own relatives.

Frustratingly, this show is one of the few Netflix originals where instead of the entire season being released all together, each episode is released weekly which naturally makes binge-watching very difficult.

Even if you don’t typically watch these kind of shows, Riverdale is worth devoting the time to watch. The intricacy of the murder mystery as well as the diversity and depth of each character make the show as entertaining and enticing as it is.
