The Nintendo Switch has been criticised for its rather ‘weak’ line up of release games. In response, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has weighed in, and talked about the plan for the console.

“Our thinking in arranging the 2017 software lineup is that it is important to continue to provide new titles regularly without long gaps. This encourages consumers to continue actively playing the system, maintains buzz, and spurs continued sales momentum for Nintendo Switch.”

This is all well and good, however, former president Satoru Iwata offered a similar explanation in 2012, with the release of the Wii U. But even that launched with some semi-decent stuff, and it had the reverse effect. Games were seldom released on the Wii U after its initial release, simply due to the decline in sales and interest.

As of this week, the Wii U has officially stopped production across the globe.

The Nintendo Switch will be released on 3rd March.

The only first party games that will be coming to the Switch are Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and 1-2-Switch.

So um… your serve, Nintendo.

Good luck with that.
