No PS4 Mods? Sony to Blame?

Recently, it was revealed that mods for Fallout 4 and the re-release of Skyrim this year would not be available for PS4. This has sparked a number of complaints and it seems as though Bethesda is pointing the finger at Sony.
In a quote from Bethesda’s official website, they not-so-subtly hinted that Sony was the cause of the delay: “After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim: Special Edition,”
“Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.”
The beta for mods on PS4 was available in June, but due to memory constraints and some files simply not working, the beta was quickly pulled. A few weeks later, vice president of Bethesda Pete Hines released a series of tweets suggesting it could be Sony causing the delays.
While he also said that Bethesda was trying to make mods happens till, he explained that details would be shared as and when there were any significant changes to the situation.
Things aren’t exactly looking good for the PS4 as it stands, as the Xbox One S has already outsold PS4’s new model, and Microsoft are capitalising on it.
