NUS President is Black Single Mother

As if that has any baring on how well she can do her job.
Yep, when it came time for the 1,200 delegates to vote for their next president, it was a 56/44% split in favor of Ms. Martin, a single black mother, who identified herself as working class. She ousted previous president Malia Bouttia, who was elected last year.
Upon accepting her position, Ms. Martin said:
“I am honoured and humbled to have been elected as NUS national president.
“I take this as a vote of trust that our members believe I can lead our national movement to be the fighting and campaigning organisation we need it to be, representing the breadth of our diverse membership.
“Further education made me who I am today and I look forward to sharing stories of just how powerful all forms of education can be when we’re all given access to it.”
People are genuinely happy about it too it would seem.
A good afternoon for once. Malia Bouattia, previously NUS President and David Ward, previously Lib Dem MP, are toast. Antisemitism isn't OK.

Could cry that we took a huge step to making NUS inclusive for everyone by electing @izzyjengalenga VP Welfare in the first round #nusnc17

The election of Malia Bouattia as #NUS President sent the message that Antisemitism is acceptable. Glad she's now been thoroughly defeated.

Good on her!
A step forward for NUS.
