NBC’s popularised show The Office could be making a comeback in late 2018 or early 2019. It was a spin-off from the UK version which was created by Ricky Gervais.

Reported by TV Line, it said that the show would feature a combination of returning cast members and some new faces. It would take place in the original series’ location, Dunder Mifflin’s office in Scranton PA. Steve Carell however, who was a staple of the original show, will reportedly not feature.

Someone else will reportedly play the boss, with a search for a new actor underway. In August this year, NBC boss Bob Greenblatt said he would love to see The Office return someday. He also said the same thing about 30 Rock, which starred Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin.

The Office ran from 2005 to 2013 and gained a massive cult following. It spawned other shows to follow suit, using the ‘mockumentary style’. It’s also the only case where something British has been made better by being Americanised.

Except for maybe pizza.

NBC has yet to make a formal announcement and there is no telling how they’re going to pull certain characters back. But I’m sure they could figure it out.

But it just won’t be the same without Steve Carell.
