Pacific Rim 2 First Look

A word from the first movie’s director, and John Boyega looking gruff: things are shaping up nicely.

We have received our first image from the set of Pacific Rim: Uprising. The image was tweeted by John Boyega, who will play one of the lead roles in the film.

The film name was changed from Maelstrom to Uprising in December.

The image was accompanied by the phrase “I am Pentecost. 2018”.

It has been rumoured Boyega will be playing the son of Stacker Pentecost, who was played by Idris Elba in the first film. That has been all but confirmed with the release of this tweet.

Former show runner for Daredevil, Steven DeKnight, will direct the film.

The film has been on the brink of production for a few years, but is finally underway, after Del Toro handed over the reins for the movie to DeKnight, and stayed on as producer.

The film will be coming next year, and will star Scott Eastwood, Zhang Jin, Cailee Spaeny, and Jing Tian.
