In what is probably the biggest first world issue we’ll cover this week; one million people have signed a petition for Snapchat to roll back their update.

The changes were made to separate people stories from branded content like news and celebrities. Founder of the photo-sharing app Evan Spiegel wrote in a blog post that he believed blurring the line between the two had contributed to the growing problem of fake news. Thousands of Snapchat users have complained that the new format is hard to use.

Nic Rumsey, who started the petition, wrote that some were using Virtual Private Network (VPN) apps to force the app into its previous state. It uses servers to access the older version of the app by masking the location of the device.

‘That’s how annoying this update has become.

‘Many ‘new features’ are useless or defeat the original purposes Snapchat has had for the past years.’

The petition was posted on change.org and has gained a million signatures.

Users must now swipe left to see friend’s stories and swipe right to see branded content and news. If you can call the Daily Mail’s stalker-like obsession with Kylie Jenner’s lady bits news. Model Chrissie Teigen tweeted that she didn’t like the fact her followers no longer felt like ‘friends’.

Speaking of Jenner, she also asked her followers what they thought of the update and agreed with followers who said they hated it. Snapchat reiterated that ‘updates can take some getting used to’.

‘We hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in.’

Nope.

We hate it.

Fix it.
