Creator of XCOM, Julian Gollop, has reached his Crowdfunding goal for his next game, Phoenix Point. The campaign went above its needed $500,000 target, only a few days after the project was announced on the 25th April.

It reached more than half its goal on the first day of crowdfunding, so it was very likely it would reach its goal.

At time of writing, the current figure stands at $501,378.

The game was announced last year in March, and has been in the works since at least that time. The developers working on the game are comprised of some former Ubisoft Sofia and Crytek developers. There are also some XCOM 2 developers too.

Gollop CEO said:

“We are creating Phoenix Point by taking influences from the famed X-COM franchise. We are updating our favorite gameplay features from X-COM titles such as UFO: Enemy Unknown and X-COM Apocalypse that I designed, and mixing them with some of the amazing ideas Firaxis Games executed brilliantly in their franchise reboots, to create an entirely new game whose essence lies in the XCOM genre.”

In other gaming news, we recently got out first look at the illusive Code Vein by way of a two minute long trailer.

It looks… very Dark Souls-ish, but a bit more… anime?

Check it out below.

It’ll arrive at some point in 2018.
